Welcome To New Era Wellness

Getting Well Adjusted.

The Adjustment is a safe, natural, and non-invasive procedure employed by a chiropractor to restore and improve health.

In basic terms, an Adjustment or spinal manipulative therapy (SMT), refers to the process in which the doctor skillfully applies a controlled force into one or more restricted vertebrae of the spine. Adjusting can also be applied to many other joints of the body using extremity manipulative therapy (EMT). Examples include the jaw, ribs, knees, elbows, wrists & ankles to name a few.

This comfortable, gentle, and potent technique is a great way to improve range of motion, decrease pain and stiffness, & ultimately, help revitalize the body.

Keeping the body and its nervous system functioning in harmony can have immeasurable benefits over a lifetime. This is not to say Adjustments are the only piece of the puzzle, but it is however safe to say, that they can certainly play a part in that pursuit.

Movement is Medicine

The Art of Adjusting

Learning the art of adjusting is a skill that requires many years of study and practice, making the chiropractor uniquely competent at employing this originally ancient, but still to this day, highly effective craft.

Known today in western medicine as a Grade V mobilization (Maitland’s Grades I-V), the Adjustment is a high velocity, low amplitude thrust; using as little force as possible, as fast as possible. The adjustment is typically delivered using the hands, but can also be employed through the use of a specialized mechanical tool depending on the patient’s preference, needs, and the chiropractors expert opinion.

The Adjustment we know today was developed and perfected over time from the ancient practice of ‘bonesetting’, first documented in the oldest medical text ever discovered dating back to 1552 BC, Egypt. Since, under variable levels of scrutiny regarding its effectiveness and safety across history, it is has morphed into an unquestionably verifiable treatment modality. One that is cited in the vast majority of medical treatment guidelines around the world for conservative care of neuromusculoskeletal ailments of the spine.

Technique Systems

The Style of Adjusting

Adjustments come in all shapes and sizes. No two practitioners, patients, or even individual adjustments are truly the same twice.

There are also many ways to perform an adjustment. Here at New Era Wellness Chiropractic we often use the Diversified Technique, but we also employ elements of Torque Release & Talsky Tonal Technique, Thompson Technique, Gonstead Technique & the Activator Method. It all depends on your needs. From gentle, instrument assisted adjusting, to firm hands on methods, our adjustments are customized to each unique scenario.
